After 1945, the artist develops his characteristic abstraction of the human figure on the basis of geometric forms. He also branches out into stage design, which helps him devise ways to open up his works: Wotruba now constructs, layers, and piles up blocks. One culmination of these efforts is the maquette for the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, which synthesizes his visions of the human figure, nature, landscape, and architecture.
