One of the artist’s specialties were so-called Christmas altarpieces featuring a carved depiction of the Nativity in the central shrine. All that survives of Klocker’s 1486 commission for the high altarpiece at San Leonardo in Passiria are the wooden figures of Mary and Joseph. In the original composition they would have been shown praying to the newborn Christ Child. Although lost today, this can be envisaged from the former altarpiece at the parish church in Termeno, which was also made by Klocker’s workshop.
