In her filmic and photographic works, Dorit Margreiter Choy explores historical buildings and sites, understanding them both as carriers of collective memory and as constructions charged with social and media significance. In the video Jock, the artist herself is seen playing with a baseball pitching machine. She reacts to the rhythmically launched balls with concentrated tension and audible sighs. The sequence of pitch and reaction creates a staccato-like sound that acoustically condenses the physical and psychological dimensions of the situation. In doing so, Margreiter Choy reflects on the disciplinary structures of urban life that shape our individual behaviors.
