In 1936, she had to flee to Prague. This view of the Vltava was created there and is striking due to its muted palette of bluegreen-brown tones and its unique framing. The composition is dominated by a broad strip of river and architectural elements. The atmosphere is cool and distant. Only one person and a small boat can be seen faraway. Relaxed contours and a nuanced application of paint counteract the impression of austerity. Dicker-Brandeis was deported to Theresienstadt in 1942 and murdered in Auschwitz in 1944."},"title2":{"label":"Alternative Title","value":"Pragbild - Eisenbrücke, Moldau"},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Oil on canvas"},"onview":{"label":"On View","value":"1"},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"View of the Vltava, Prague"},"classification":{"label":"Genre","value":"Painting"},"primaryMedia":{"label":"PrimaryMedia","value":"/internal/media/dispatcher/16469/full"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"c. 1936"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"10197918"},"iiifManifest":{"value":"https://sammlungtest.belvedere.at/apis/iiif/presentation/v2/1-objects-10572/manifest"},"dimensions":{"label":"Dimensions","value":"44 × 56,5 cm"}}]}
