She is shown with a gentle smile, gazing into the distance. Only her collar of fine ermine, over which her brown hair loosely falls, implies her high social standing and could also be interpreted as a reference to her relationship with the Polish king, with whom she had a long-term affair. She met her husband Count Carlo Tomatis, the director of the Warsaw Opera House, while he was in Venice recruiting artists for his institution. The portrait could have been a preparatory work for a larger painting."},"title2":{"label":"Alternative Title","value":"Frauenbildnis"},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Oil on paper on canvas"},"onview":{"label":"On View","value":"0"},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Countess Catarina of Tomatis"},"classification":{"label":"Genre","value":"Painting"},"primaryMedia":{"label":"PrimaryMedia","value":"/internal/media/dispatcher/163548/full"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"1788\u20131789"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"10193076"},"iiifManifest":{"value":"https://sammlungtest.belvedere.at/apis/iiif/presentation/v2/1-objects-2984/manifest"},"dimensions":{"label":"Dimensions","value":"42 × 33,5 cm"}}]}
