The steep perspective reveals this work as a sketch for a ceiling painting. Amid the throng, we see Flora, Ceres, and Diana\u2014the goddesses of flowers, agriculture, and hunting representing the seasons of spring, summer, and autumn. Neptune, god of the sea with his trident, personifies winter. Maulbertsch used perspective and light to choreograph a dramatic scene that unfurls across the ceiling like an opulent piece of theater. The location of the final fresco is not known, however. Although this work was long believed to be a sketch for a ceiling fresco in Schloss Kirchstetten, their compositions are different."},"title2":{"label":"Alternative Title","value":"Allegorie des Goldenen Zeitalters"},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Oil on canvas"},"onview":{"label":"On View","value":"0"},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Allegorical Scene"},"classification":{"label":"Genre","value":"Painting"},"primaryMedia":{"label":"PrimaryMedia","value":"/internal/media/dispatcher/153546/full"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"c. 1750/1755"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"10191636"},"iiifManifest":{"value":"https://sammlungtest.belvedere.at/apis/iiif/presentation/v2/1-objects-493/manifest"},"dimensions":{"label":"Dimensions","value":"56 x 72 cm"}}]}
