“My works are not meant to be mere superficial images. They show the tree, the mountain, the clouds, the light - quite simply, existence, being. They are lived experiences, sensations, things that have happened and are happening within me.” This is how an entry in Heliane Wiesauer-Reiterer’s diary from 1980 described the contemplative principle underlying the artist’s exploration of the interconnected themes of humanity, landscape, and nature in painting, sculpture, photography, and installation. This reduced yet never detached visual language is also evident in her sculptural „Wrappings“. Reinforced with papiermâché and plaster, their intersecting linear forms develop variations on a constructive vocabulary and processes of material condensation.
