In the background on the left, we see the imperial frigate Belluna, a warship. On the right in the foreground, an imperial brig with rectangular sails is embarking on merchant voyages. The scirocco wind from the title seems to be blowing from different directions at the same time and inflating the sails. High up on the mast, a sailor is at work, a reddish-brown flag fluttering above his head. On this we can read the name “Butti”—the artist’s signature. When he painted this seascape, Butti was at the height of his career. In 1847 he was awarded the official title of Austrian court maritime painter.</schema:description><schema:artForm>Painting</schema:artForm><schema:url>https://sammlungtest.belvedere.at/objects/8574/rdf</schema:url></schema:VisualArtwork></rdf:RDF>
