She not only examines the mixing and merging of elements from different cultures as pictorial motifs; she also reflects these phenomena by expanding the traditional materials of painting. Since 2014 she has exclusively used coarsely woven, unprimed burlap as a painting surface, transforming the image ground and the stretcher frame from mere supports into defining elements of the composition. In „SPA 3“, the cross of the wooden stretchers, visible through the fabric, becomes part of a rack-like structure for hanging a soap dispenser, a roll of toilet paper, and a makeup mirror. These everyday objects speak to social coexistence and personal domestic space.
