It has been reiterated by numerous monuments in public spaces, including the impressive Monument à la République in Paris by Léopold and Charles Morice (1883). In his work \u201eEgalité & Egalité\u201c, Philipp Timischl fragments and duplicates the figure of Marianne that crowns the monument. A still frame silk-screened onto canvas is directly juxtaposed with a time-lapse moving image shot from a fixed perspective. For a few seconds, the same image appears twice, while the rest of the loop shows traffic, the sky, and other parts of the monument.
