The patient is carefully raised in bed by another soldier. The weakened man keeps his eyes closed but his hand is raised loving greeting. The Viennese painter Max Kurzweil created this emotionally touching scene with a narrative flair. The patient\u2019s condition seems very serious. Perhaps the meeting with the \u201cdear visitor\u201d of the title also portends a permanent parting. Kurzweil\u2019s depiction of a commonplace soldier\u2019s life corresponds to a realistic outlook on art. Only a few years later, however, he would turn his attention entirely to Viennese Art Nouveau."},"title2":{"label":"Alternative Title","value":"Ein letzter Besuch"},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Oil on canvas"},"onview":{"label":"On View","value":"0"},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Ein lieber Besuch"},"classification":{"label":"Genre","value":"Painting"},"primaryMedia":{"label":"PrimaryMedia","value":"/internal/media/dispatcher/9523/full"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"1894"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"10192018"},"iiifManifest":{"value":"https://sammlungtest.belvedere.at/apis/iiif/presentation/v2/1-objects-1260/manifest"},"dimensions":{"label":"Dimensions","value":"94 x 125 cm"}}]}
