The ruff, the cloth, and the shawl are all made of a gossamer fabric that is merely suggested. The same applies to the trees and the cloudy sky. Füger had traveled far, especially to Rome and Naples, before finally settling permanently in Vienna in 1783. He was appointed vice-director of the city\u2019s academy before being promoted to director in 1795.
