Scraps of fabric, clothing, other functional items, and found objects from nature variously find their way into her drawings, works on canvas, objects, and installations. In Rigling\u2019s practice, the seemingly insignificant, often overlooked and hidden are imbued with meaning. Textiles, in particular, are an integral part of her work. On the one hand, they reflect her personal biography: Rigling\u2019s mother was a seamstress, so she has been familiar with textile work since her childhood. On the other hand, they also serve as a feminist reflection on the hierarchization of art and craft.
