As a landscape painter, Josef Heideloff is associated with the school of Austrian artist Johann Christian Brand, who was renowned for his realistic depictions of nature. Accordingly, Heideloff’s Vintage does not depict an idealized, composed landscape but a specific area north of Vienna: The Bisamberg appears to the right, while the more prominent Leopoldsberg rises on the left. On the opposite bank of the Danube, the town of Korneuburg is visible as a faint silhouette. Heideloff shows a lively landscape, animated by several boats on the Danube and figures working in the vineyard, offering a glimpse into everyday life along the river. Apart from this work, only one other painting by the artist has so far been identified in a public collection. In addition, a number of works on paper are known, which likewise demonstrate his remarkable topographical precision.</schema:description><schema:artForm>Painting</schema:artForm><schema:url>https://sammlungtest.belvedere.at/objects/89923/rdf</schema:url></schema:VisualArtwork></rdf:RDF>
