People from diverse backgrounds are crowded outside a village church or chapel. They represent a miniature panorama of society that Treml gently ridicules. We see women in traditional costume near an urban lady wearing a fashionable poke bonnet, a grumpy-looking man with a pince-nez (the village teacher no doubt), a portly gentleman, who has placed his cap on a stick to shield his face from the sun, and probably his son, a young dandy with a top hat in his hand.
