Playing with the aesthetics of bourgeois classicism and functional industrial design, Marina Faust’s object captivates through its elegance, mobility, and wit. In her sculptural practice, the artist works with found and reconfigured everyday objects such as chairs, stools, and chandeliers. With a spirit of playful inquiry, she investigates their function, materiality, and history, while questioning the social codes they convey. Faust is interested in nothing less than probing the very essence of things. Through a collage-like method, she assembles everyday objects into artworks, redefining their meaning and possible uses.
